We transform flat Yangdan into expressive forms for modern spaces, layering new stories to carry Korean aesthetics into the present and beyond.

 If you sit quietly in a hanok room, you begin to sense how time gathers. Light filtering through wooden lattice doors, the warmth left in still air, the gesture of wrapping something carefully in cloth. These are not loud memories, but they endure. UNI Studio began from such moments — not to replicate the past, but to carry its attitude and sensibility into contemporary life.
 

 Our work reinterprets the time and memory of traditional Korean spaces as modern objects. The studio was founded through the collaboration of textile artisan “Yoon” and visual artist “Lee.” One continues Korean handcraft traditions through fabric, stitching, knots, and embroidery; the other records spatial memory through drawing and writing. Their distinct sensibilities meet as one under the name “uni.” Our English name, UNI, reflects this union.

 We do not see souvenirs as mass-produced objects, but as small crafted pieces that hold the emotion of a culture. In the act of folding and tying fabric, traditional structures and attitudes naturally find their way into contemporary form. Bojagi remains one of our central motifs. More than cloth, it is a gesture of care — a way of wrapping and offering. The depth of layered colors and the structural tension of knots come fully alive only through the hand.
 

 Our first collection, Mini Bojagi Magnet, condenses this sensibility into a small object. Preserving the structure of traditional knots, we fixed them into forms that live within everyday spaces — both ornament and quiet record of tradition. We do not preserve tradition as something static. Instead, we design it to  breathe again in today’s spaces. Each year, we leave another story upon fabric, carrying Korean aesthetics into the present and the future.
